The Lonesome Stampede whoopin' it up at De Koffie Pot
"The Lonesome Stampede" are folk with fizz – laden with pop hooks, the band call their music ‘folk-funk’. Theirs is modern dance music but with deeper roots, making it both familiar and fresh. This unlikely musical gold is the product of a band of equals, male and female vocals spark off each other, excitable drums clatter while guitar, bass and violin lock horns. At times they sound like Talking Heads led by a soaring fiddle – is that really so strange?"
The critic who wrote these words was clearly pretty snowed by the band and here I must let on, that critic was me. Since first booking them for a Friday night at De Koffie Pot, I am pleased to say that we've become friends and the band are truly members of the wider Wild Hare Club family.
