Catherine Feeny with partner and producer, Sebastian Rogers in the gloaming at the Globe
Although Catherine Feeny is a resident of Portland - the progressive city crammed full of musicians located in the beautiful state of Oregon - we have been lucky to have had her play two stunning shows at the Wild Hare Club. Both performances had the audience absolutely spellbound, the second in the Globe at Hay was especially magical for the evening summer sun slanting through the high window above the stage.

An adept songwriter and brilliant singer, Catherine now has several albums under her belt, but it is 2005′s ‘Hurricane Glass,’ for which she is best known. The song Mr.Blue was picked up by KCRW in LA, and later featured in 'Running with Scissors', 'The O.C.' and 'Miss Conception.' My favourite however is 'America', a cycle of songs inspired by living for two months in Zucotti Park during the Occupy protests. United, the single from the album built on samples from the protests, won the 2013 Peace Promotion Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and caught the attention of writer/activist Eve Ensler (The Vagina Monologues), who commissioned Feeny to compose a song for her organization, One Billion Rising. Jaime Jackson, an artist friend of the WHC, was so inspired that he made a great video for the song too.

Catherine knows she will always be welcome at the WHC whenever she next chooses to cross the pond.
